Keeping up with the affordable makeup series, I’m here today to talk about another amazing find from the drugstore. This product has long been labelled as a dupe for the Benefit Gimme Brows eyebrow gel and it is the Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Mascara. I personally have yet to try the Benefit one so I can’t compare these two. But we can all agree that the Benefit one is a lot more pricier and not everybody likes to shell out that amount of money on an eyebrow gel. So if you’re looking for a dupe, read on to know more about his product.
Product Claims: fill up… 3in1 – colour, density and shape! The tinted gel of the make me brow eyebrow gel mascara contains tiny fibres that fill in any unwanted gaps for beautifully defined and full eyebrows.
Price: Rs 349/- for 3.8ml
Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Mascara comes in a small, light and sturdy packaging. It has a tiny spoolie which allows for a precise application of the product. It comes in 2 different shades- 01 which is a light blonde shade and 02, which is a darker brown shade. The darker shade will most likely suit most Indian women and which is what I’ll be talking about in this review. The eyebrow mascara is a light to moderately pigmented gel which has little fibres mixed into it. These fibres help in adding some light volume to sparse areas and the gel coats the eyebrow with a light tint. Since the tint is light and it takes about 15-20 seconds for the product to dry up, it is very easy to go back and correct any mistakes that were made during the application. One of its other truly amazing qualities is its ability to hold unruly eyebrows. My eyebrows never ever stay in one place. And this is the only product I’ve tried so far that can actually hold them in place for quite a few hours! It lasts for the next 4-5 hours after which the eyebrow hair can start to move a little. It does not bleed under sweat or if you lightly splash your face with water.
The shade I have is the 02 Browny Brows which is a neutral dark brown. I love this shade because as opposed to most of the eyebrow products in the market that lean warm, this shade is a really balanced one with no obvious warmth or coolness to it.
How To Use: Brush your eyebrows with a spoolie (this is an optional step but it really helps if you have difficult to tame eyebrows like mine). Take out the mascara wand and start brushing the eyebrows in a downward motion, leaving half an inch from the middle. Concentrate where the hair are sparse or lighter than the rest. After you are down with brushing the entire eyebrow in a downward motion, now dip the spoolie back into the bottle to get some more product and gently brush the downward facing hair in a horizontal motion. This time include the front part of your eyebrow that we left in the earlier step. Leave it to set for the next 30 seconds. This sounds complicated but once you get the hang of it, it takes less than a minute to get both your eyebrows done.
P.S- This product works with almost all kind of brows, the light, thin and sparse as well as the thick, unruly ones.
The Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Mascara is great drugstore eyebrow gel that can fix and fill in the eyebrows for a naturally groomed look. At this price, this product is a total steal! If you’d like to have perfectly groomed eyebrows but don’t have a lot of time in the mornings, you must try out this product. The only glitch I can think of is that essence products can be sometimes hard to find. But you can go to their website and check out the store locator to know which stores in your city are selling essence makeup.
