I’m back today with another lip product review and that is the Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Liner in Brick Rose. I feel lately I’ve been doing a lot of lipstick/lip liner reviews and that could be because I’ve been really enjoying using these lip products and feel like sharing them with you guys. But I promise I’ll try to mix it up in my next posts. Also some of you had asked for some makeup tutorials but unfortunately, because of some trouble with my lighting I haven’t been able to shoot them till now. Hopefully I’ll get all that sorted out soon and begin re-shooting them.
Anyways, coming to today’s post, if you guys remember I had shown this lip liner (along with a few others) in one of my shopping hauls a while ago. This was a perfect shade to wear in the winter time but now that the summers are approaching, I’m amazed at how much I still love wearing it! This range of Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Liners has a limited collection of shades but their quality is amazing. So lets get to the review and see what makes them one of the best in the market.

These lip liners from Lakme come in a an average sized pencil form with a transparent cap. The cap doesn’t close with a ‘click’ but nonetheless, fits pretty snugly onto the pencil so you don’t have to worry about it coming off and damaging the pencil while you’re travelling. I actually quite like the average length of these pencils as opposed to some of the much longer lip liners in the market (think MAC lip pencils or Colorbar’s Definer lip liners) because it makes these easier to store and carry around. All liners from this range come in a similar neutral packaging but are color-coded at the base which makes it super easy to locate the shades.
If I had to describe the texture of this pencil in a nutshell, I would say it is one of the best lip liners I’ve tried. It can impress anyone and everyone, even someone who’s not a fan of lip liners. The liner is very creamy in texture but not to the extent that it will crumble. It goes over the lips ultra smoothly and does not tug at the lips at all. It actually feels like a good matte lipstick in a pencil form! It does not feel drying at all and unlike most lip liners where you have to prep your lips first so they don’t start peeling when you’re filling them in, you need no prepping to do before using these. Pigmentation of this pencil is spot-on too with it giving an intense pigmentation in just one swipe.
I can best describe the shade of this liner as medium-deep rose brown with a slightly warm undertone. On me, it looks a little dark but for medium to deep skintones, this could be a great nude/neutral to go with most brown lipsticks. But no matter what your skintone, this is a great flattering everyday shade for all complexions. It has an average wear-time of about 4-5 hours on my lips and can take mild snacks and drinks in between. Since I love this shade by itself, I love wearing it on its own instead of topping it up with a lipstick. It gives me a nice opaque matte finish. If you’re a gloss person, you can also top it off with a transparent gloss.
Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Liner in Brick Rose is a beautiful warm rose brown shade which should be flattering on all complexions and can be paired with most nude or brown lipsticks. The texture of this pencil is creamy enough to glide onto the lips without tugging but not too creamy to crumble. The shade has a matte finish but still manages to not over-dry the lips. I have 2 shades from this collection (the other one being Red Alert) and absolutely love them both. I really wish Lakme would add more shades to this collection! Highly Recommended!
