Continuing with my reviews on bright pink summery lipsticks, today I’ll be reviewing a cult favourite pink lipstick from MAC. Impassioned is one of the most popular pink lipsticks from MAC and here’s my take on it.
Rs 1450/- in India
The lipstick comes in a typical MAC lipsticks’ sturdy black packaging. It belongs to MAC’s Amplified Creme range and true to all the lipsticks in this range, has a creme formula and is highly pigmented. Although creme, this particular shade is not very hydrating as some other shades from this range like MAC Fast Play and can be somewhat unforgiving on dry lips. So I highly suggest scrubbing and moisturizing your lips prior to wearing this lipstick.
As I stated above, texture-wise, this lipstick has a very creamy formula and goes on without tugging on the lips. It gives an opaque coverage in 1-2 swipes and will cover pigmented lips completely. The shade tends to transfer onto your food and drinks and since it is a bright shade, this is a slight turn off for me! It has a satin-like finish which is neither completely matte nor glossy. On my lips, this shade tends to stay for about 4-5 hours with mild snacks/drinks in between. After that, it leaves a beautiful dark pink stain on the lips that needs to be removed with a makeup remover at the end of the day. One thing I don’t like about this shade is that it tends to accentuate fine lines on my lips. So again, scrubbing is a must beforehand.
Coming onto the shade, it is one of those shades that tends to look different on different skintones. On my lips, it is a bright summery watermelon pink. But no matter what the skintone, the shade has the ability to turn any look glamorous! The lipstick should suit a wide range of complexions. To see how it looks on my NC30/35 skintone, check out the pictures below.
MAC Impassioned vs Revlon Unapologetic
Since Revlon’s Matte Balm Stain in Unapologetic first launched, it has time and again been compared to MAC’s Impassioned. Many people call Revlon Unapologetic as MAC Impassioned’s dupe and while both shades are quite similar, especially in artificial lighting, there are some differences that set them both apart. MAC’s Impassioned:
-is slightly darker
-has a lesser neon finish
-leans more on the pinkish side (as compared to Unapologetic which is more of a warm coral/ reddish-pink). This difference becomes quite apparent sometimes in different lightings.
-has a satiny finish (as compared to Unapologetic which is completely matte)
-has a shorter longevity
MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick in Impassioned is one of MAC’s hottest selling lipsticks and for good reason! The shade is a beautiful bright watermelon pink which will make sure everyone notices your lips 😛 It is highly pigmented, goes on without tugging on the lips, has a good staying power but tends to accentuate any dryness or fine lines on the lips. Overall, this one of my favourite and the most flattering pink lipsticks I’ve tried. If you’re looking for a bright pink lipstick this summer, do check this out!
