Review

Packaging: The product comes in a dual-ended sharpenable pencil form, having a smudger at the other end. This makes the pencil longer than regular eye pencils. It can be sharpened with any eye pencil sharpener, but as with other similar pencils, a lot of product gets wasted during that process.

Formula/Texture: The texture of the kajal is very smooth and goes on without tugging the skin. If you are going for a smudged look, it needs to be done within seconds of application because the kajal sets quite quickly and then, becomes almost smudge-proof. The one and only issue I seem to face with this product is that after the product dries, it flakes a little bit and you can see very tiny flakes around your eye! Other than this little issue, the kajal itself is very comfortable to wear and does not irritate the eye in spite of being waterproof.

Longevity: When I apply this kajal on my top lash line along with a prior application of loose powder on my lid, this product lasts for more than 6 hours on me. I say β€˜a prior application of loose powder’ because I have very oily lids and almost all products transfer to my crease if I don’t prep my eyelids with some powder. The good thing about this product though, as compared to similar products in the market, is that it doesn’t need to be set with a black eyeshadow and resists smudging/melting by itself. So if you have very oily eyelids like I do, this is a good option to try. On my watery eyes, this kajal stays for about 3-4Β hours on the waterlineΒ before it starts to smudge a little, which is again amazing because very few eye pencils/kajals stay put on my waterline for that long. One thing I must add here is that even though the kajal is waterproof, it will not stay put if rubbed off.

Pigmentation: The product is very highly pigmented and just 1-2 swipes are needed to get an opaque black color. Speaking of color, the kajal is truly one of the the blackest eye pencils/ kajals in the market. My favourite eye pencil till date has been the Urban Decay 24×7 eye pencil in Perversion and as you can see in the swatches below, pigmentation-wise, this product is quite similar to it. The only difference amongst them is that the UD one is a cooler tone of black while this kajal has a slightly warmer tone to it.

5. Sets quickly

6. Waterproof

What I Don’t Love About The Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal

1. Has a tendency to flake a little bit

2. Expensive

Overall Thoughts

The Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal in Just Black is one of the best kajals I’ve tried so far! It is very smooth, highly pigmented, has a great staying power, is waterproof and the best part, is a jet black color. Of course, it isn’t perfect and has a tendency to flake slightly. But it isn’t a major issue and can be safely ignored, especially looking at all the other pros it has. It is priced more than most other kajals in the market but in my opinion, is totally worth the money. Highly recommended!
