How are you all doing today? I can’t believe we are already in August! This year is going by so fast. Anyway, I am happy to announce that I’m starting a new series called the Affordable Makeup series wherein every Monday I’ll be talking about some amazing drugstore finds that are budget-friendly as well as amazing! And starting off this series with one of my all time favourites, I’ll be talking about the Lakme 9 to 5 Lip liner in Red Alert.
Price: Rs 400 Buy here
These 9 to 5 lip liners from Lakme come in an average sized pencil form with a transparent cap. The size of the pencil, as I said, is average and can be sharpened with any good drugstore sharpener. The cap doesn’t close with a ‘click’ but nonetheless, fits pretty snugly onto the pencil. This ensures that you don’t have to worry about it coming off and damaging the pencil while you’re travelling. All the lip liners from this range come in a similar neutral gold packaging but are color-coded at the base which makes it super easy to locate the shades.
The texture of this pencil is very creamy. And highly pigmented too. So creamy and pigmented that you won’t have to go over a certain area twice! The creaminess ensures that there is no tugging on the lips or accentuation of any dryness of any sort. However, it isn’t crumbly soft either so you don’t have to worry about the tip breaking off on your lip. One swipe of this lip liner gives off a beautiful red shade. Speaking of the shade, it is a beautiful medium to deep red with a slightly cool undertone. It goes with most reds except the really warm ones. You can also fill your entire lips with the pencil owing to its beautifully soft texture in which case, you can see a slight sheen to it. The staying power of the pencil is an average of 3-4 hours which isn’t very long-lasting but isn’t bad either. It does not bleed but if worn alone without a lipstick on top, it has a tendency to transfer slightly.

Lakme 9 to 5 lip liners are one of the best drugstore lip liners available in India. Their soft, creamy texture, high pigmentation and affordable price is hard to match. The shade red alert is a medium to deep red with a slightly cool undertone. It can be used to just line the lips as well as to fill them in like a lipstick. It doesn’t have a very strong matte finish and a slight sheen can be seen It works well when paired with most neutral to cool-toned reds. A must try product from Lakme!
