I was going through the blog yesterday and I realised I hadn’t shared my any of my lipstick experiences with you all. Can you imagine? Especially for a lipstick hoarder like me! So if you see a lot of lipstick reviews in the coming days, that’s probably why. To start with, I thought I’ll share one of my first and favourite lipsticks from MAC. It is the MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in the shade Crosswires.
I bought this a while ago but MAC lipsticks in India retail for Rs 1450/- these days. In the U.S, the price is 16 dollars.
Available here at flipkart.com
The lipstick comes in MAC’s classic black packaging. It has a faint vanilla fragrance, which again is typical of MAC lipsticks. However, it can only be detected if you sniff the tube and is almost undetectable on the lips.
Formula-wise, the lipstick is creamy and glides on easily. The pigmentation is good but not great. It takes about 2-3 swipes for a full coverage, which is a good thing as it allows you to build intensity. It stays on my lips for about 3-4 hours after which it leaves a beautiful coral stain. Personally, I find the formula a tad bit on the drying side but it might be hardly noticeable if you don’t have very dry lips.
Coming on to the best part, the color of the lipstick can best be described as a pinkish coral with very slight brown undertones. The color, I feel, is one of the hard-to-find shades and is a must-have for all the coral lipstick lovers. It instantly brightens the face and is one of the most wearable shades of coral I have come across. Again, it is buildable and you can control the intensity. It has a slight sheen and is somewhere in between matte and glossy. There is no bleeding and the lipstick wears off evenly. Below are a few swatches.
Here is a picture of me wearing the lipstick. Please note that the shade is brighter in person than it appears in the picture.
MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Crosswires is one the most wearable shades of coral I have ever come across. It has a decent staying power of about 3-4 hours. It has a slight sheen to it which can neither be classified as glossy nor is totally matte. The shade should suit a wide range of skintones. Still, I would suggest you to first try it in the store and then purchase. The formula is not the most hydrating but a must-have lipstick from MAC nevertheless!
