Maybelline Mascara Lash Sensational- Review, Price In India

Maybelline launched their much coveted mascara- the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara a few months ago in India. As excited as I was, I flew to the nearest maybelline counter as soon as I got this news! The mascara has been launched in both Washable and Waterproof variants; and as always, I chose the Waterproof one.

I got a bad eye infection shortly afterwards so I couldn’t try out this product then. But recently I’ve started using this product and I must say, I have mixed thoughts! Read on to know where this mascara scores and where it falls behind.

Review

The maybelline lash sensational mascara comes in a mauve-colored packaging. I love how Maybelline packages their mascaras. So simple yet fun! The wand it comes with is a curved, plastic one. Let’s just take a moment and appreciate the wand. The bristles on it are quite interesting. Inside of the curve is filled with tiny little bristles designed to get a hold of the little hair. However, when you rotate the wand you can see the bristles increasing in height. Shape of the wand is optimum for grabbing maximum number of eyelashes and creating a ‘full fan effect’ as is claimed by the brand. As a result, the mascara coates each and every eyelash and has a good lengthening action. It does have a little volumizing action too but not as much.

Unfortunately for me, the pros of this mascara seem to end here. The wand, most often than not, can pick up too much product at a time. This can result in the mascara looking clumpy, taking a longer-than-usual time to dry and feel quite heavy. So the trick with this mascara is to tilt the wand while pulling it out so the excess gets wiped off inside the tube.

The waterproof formula has a good curl-holding action which I love but that comes with a price! The formula is waterproof to the extent that it doesn’t easily come off. Being used to waterproof eye makeup, I usually have a big army of waterproof makeup removers; some of which are pretty hardcore. Even then, I can find residue of the mascara on my eyelashes hours after having washed it off. After suffering from a terrible eye infection a couple months ago, I’m very careful about removing every trace of makeup and this is something that irks me everytime with this product! On the plus side though, the formula doesn’t wear off or flake away during the day.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara v/s Maybelline The Falsies

In comparison to the Maybelline Falsies mascara, the formula in this one is thicker and clumpier but has a more lengthening action. Lashes with the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara look more spidery whereas with the falsies, its more of a cleaner look.

Overall Thoughts

This is a good option for those looking for a good lengthening mascara for everyday wear. The wand is quite efficient in coating every single lash hair. And the fan effect it creates looks quite beautiful! However, it might give a clumpy look to your eyelashes if you use more. Additionally, there can be quite an effort required to remove the waterproof formula of this maybelline mascara, so if you’re planning to go for this, I’d suggest you go for the washable variant.
