I am back with another review today. Recently I did some NYX shopping and the NYX Retractable Eye Liner in the shade Gypsy Blue was one of the items I bought. NYX claims these eyeliners to be waterproof and extremely long-lasting. To know if this eyeliner stands true to its big claims, keep reading…
Twist and shout! Renowned for its extreme lasting power, this creamy liner delivers intense pigmentation and precise application in an easy, twist-up tube that never needs sharpening
The pencil comes in a retractable packaging. Being a retractable pencil, it doesn’t need to be sharpened which is both a good thing and a bad one. The good thing is that no product gets wasted during sharpening and the bad one is that the tip gets blunt very soon and thus achieving a thin line is very difficult. The texture of this pencil is highly pigmented and one swipe is all you need to achieve an opaque line. The product is creamy but not too much that it breaks or crumbles during application.
The shade ‘Gypsy Blue’ is a deep teal blue shade. It sets into a sheen and once set, does not budge until taken off with a makeup remover. NYX describes this shade as waterproof and very accurately, its staying power is marvellous. Even on my watery eyes, it stays put for a good 6-7 hours on the lower waterline which is amazing! Speaking of applying it on the waterline, even though the formula is waterproof, it never irritates my eyes. The only difference between this pencil and other long-lasting eyeliners is that this wears off if you rub your eyes; doesn’t smudge, just gets lighter. But if you leave your eyes alone, that is not a problem. The shade seems deeper in person than is seen in the pictures below. Because if this, it is appropriate for everyday wear and is a good choice to replace your usual black eye pencil.
This was my first time trying NYX retractable pencils and I must say I’m quite impressed with the quality! Other than its availability issue in India, I cannot find any other con with it. This particular shade is an everyday wear shade and is a must-try for girls wanting to try colored eyeliners but not ‘in-your-face’ kind of shades. Highly recommended!
4.75/5 (-0.25 for availability issues in India)
