Having a great Eye Primer can be one of most essential products you can have in your makeup kit. Blessed with super oily eyelids myself, I cannot underestimate the worth of one. I do look for certain qualities and an ideal eye primer for me would be a product which intensifies the pigmentation of my eye shadows, prevents them from creasing, prevents my top eyeliner from transferring and neutralises the pigmentation on my eyelids.

With this in mind, I went on to try theBalm Put A Lid On It Eye Primer. I’ve had it for quite a while now and here’s what I think of this product.
Price: USD 18

Review
The primer comes in a little opaque tube and like all the other theBalm products, has some fun illustrations over it. These illustrations make the packaging look super cute and attractive! The packaging is small, leak-proof and lightweight which makes it pretty convenient for travel.
The product is dispensed via a narrow opening which allows you to easily control the amount that is being dispensed. Speaking of the amount, you really need the tiniest bit of the product for each eyelid. The product is a pale colored primer that goes on transparent and is super slippery. One little warning though. If you already have some makeup on, like a concealer on your eyelid, the primer will instantly dissolve and remove it immediately. And since the primer has no tint in itself, you might have to use some other product to neutralise any pigmentation on your eyelid after you’ve applied the product.

The product works wonderfully in intensifying the color pay-off of eyeshadows. It also helps all your eye makeup to stay in place thereby, minimising creasing and transferring of eyeshadow/eyeliner to your top lid. All the eye makeup stays put for quite a few hours. One application tip you have to remember though with this product, is to wait for about 1-2 minutes after you’ve applied the primer (until all the obvious slipperiness has disappeared and you are left with a matte skin) and then continue with your eyemakeup. If you put your makeup before that, it will start sliding and moving around!

Overall Thoughts
Overall theBalm Put A Lid On It Eye Primer is a great product in the sense that it helps keep your eye makeup intact, resists transfer and intensifies the color pay-off of eyeshadows. I use it even on days when I’m not wearing any eyeshadow to help my eyelid stay matte and keep my top eyeliner intact. I do wish though that it was tinted so it could help lessen discolouration on the eyelids and create an even base. It isn’t easily available in India but if you get a chance to try, go for it!

I did not know this eye primer is a good one. I generally love the blushes, bronzer, lippies and eye shadows from Thebalm. Loverly review!
Lovely review Komal! <3 yup I agree, peimer can make or break your eyeshadow game! Wish theBalm was available here in India 🙁
Great product. Even I am search of a good eyeshadow base. Since LUXOLA is no more an option for us I am thinking of either MAC or Kryolan
Great detailed review Komal. I am getting hold of this when I get a chance. Even i like using eye primer on lids to keep them matte, even if I am not using an eyeshadow 🙂
I would love to try this one.. Great review.. waiting for the 2 mins for it to dry might be a little boring but its worth the wait..
sounds so good…….great review 🙂
Sounds like a nice product! I mostly use face primers to prime my lids 😛
This eye primer seems too good! TheBalm always come up with top notch products 🙂

I have heard a lot about this one but I am confused whether I* should opt for this one or the benfit one? what would you suggest?
I haven’t used the benefit one gal but this performs well as a primer. It isn’t tinted though so do consider that if you go for this 🙂
sounds another hit by thebalm 🙂
Availability is an issue 🙁 Meanwhile the Body Shop Instablur Eye Primer is a cheaper alternative. It doesn’t do much for pigmented eyelids, but it is quite good as a primer for making eye shadows stay put.
